GEORGE M. GUTIÉRREZ  was a New York artist, photojournalist, and curator. Mr. Gutierrez won over a hundred awards including the Pulitzer Prize. In addition to painting, and photography, his work includes OpEd Art, illustration, album cover art, drawing, collage, and assemblage.  He’s been published in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post, The San Francisco Chronicle, New York Magazine, Vanity Fair and other periodicals and publications. Mr. Gutiérrez was the curator for Gallery18 at The Riverdale Y since April 2022.  He had studios in Yonkers, and Riverdale, and lived in Riverdale with his wife, Dr. Romina Carrillo Gutiérrez. 

This virtual exhibition honoring the life and work of GEORGE M. GUTIÉRREZ is in conjunction with an exhibition of George's work being held at Gallery 18 at the Y, 5625 Arlington Avenue, Riverdale NY on view beginning Thursday April 11th through Friday May 31st. 

Opening reception Tuesday May 7th / 6 - 8pm
